Family Advocacy Network – Parents of Children with Special Needs
*Monthly support groups are facilitated by Sally Maslansky, MFT, based on fundamentals of “Parenting From the Inside Out” by Dr. Dan Siegel.   Meets the first Saturday of the month, 9:30-11:00am at Caramore Community Center, 550 Smith Level Rd in Carrboro.

*FAN workshops are typically the 2nd Saturday of each month, 9:30-11:00am at Freedom House Recovery Center, 102 New Stateside Dr. in Chapel Hill.

NAMI Support Group
Family Support Group for family members of Adults who have mental illness meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of the month at the Seymour Center, 2551 Homestead Rd in Chapel Hill.  Contact Kay at 919-402-1630 or email kayemaltbie@gmail.com

TEACCH Mother’s Group
The support group in Chapel Hill is open to mothers of children with autism spectrum disorders who are TEACCH clients. If you know someone who would like to participate in this group but has not yet been seen at TEACCH, please have them contact Catherine Jones at (919) 966-3100. Meetings are from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon in the upstairs conference room at the Chapel Hill TEACCH Center in Carrboro.

Bereavement Resources

Angels Too Soon
Safe, private, non-judgemental support group for parents who have experienced the loss of an infant during pregnancy or in the baby’s first year.  This group meets the 3rd Monday of the month from 7:00 pm -8:30 pm at University United Methodist Church in Chapel Hill.  Contact Beth Alexander at 919-929-7191 x22 to register.

Compassionate Friends
Support group for any family member coping with the death of a child of any age regardless of religious affiliation.  This group meets the 3rd Monday of each month from 7:00 pm -8:30 pm at Evergreen United Methodist Church in Chapel Hill.  Call 919-595-1010 for more information.

Perinatal Loss Group (through UNC Hospitals)
Support group for those who have lost a baby through miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, stillbirth or newborn death.  This group meets the 3rd Thursday of the month in the Women’s Health Information Center.  Interested individuals must RSVP.  Contact Darryl Owens at 919-966-7801.
